Flyers Looking at Drury?
There are reports that the Flyers are interested in Chris Drury, whose contract was recently bought out by the Rangers. They may be looking to reunite Daniel Briere and Chris Drury who, in 2006-07, combined for 69 goals and 95 assists for the Sabres. However, given Drury’s recent performance and inability to stay healthy, is this the right time to take a chance on the 34-year-old? Additionally, with only $1.58MM in cap space and 13 forwards already signed, the Flyers may need to move players to make room for Drury in their lineup.
From my perspective, the Flyers already have a strong, balanced roster and, although Drury could rekindle the spark and regain his offensive prowess, the risk greatly outweighs the reward. In the right role, at the right price, and if the Flyers can improve in other areas by trading some of their current forward depth, there may be an opportunity for Drury’s veteran leadership in the Flyers’ locker room.
